Prisoners’ families accuse Netanyahu of thwarting deal, criticize military pressure | News

Families of prisoners held in Gaza have accused the Israeli government of sabotaging indirect negotiations with Hamas to reach a ceasefire.

The families of the prisoners said, in response to the statement of the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that it is unfortunate that Netanyahu continues to throw dust in the eyes of the public, and continues to thwart the deal, instead of doing his duty to return the kidnapped.

The families of the Israeli prisoners added that the responsibility for returning the kidnapped was, is, and will always remain the responsibility of the Israeli government alone.

The families held Netanyahu and his government ministers responsible for abandoning Israeli citizens suffering in Hamas captivity, they said, stressing that reaching a deal is primarily in Israel’s interest.

The families of the Israeli prisoners said that the past week proved that military pressure does not save the prisoners, but kills them, and that the only way to return them is to strike a deal.

Netanyahu’s office accused Hamas of continuing to hide the fact that it was the one rejecting the deal and making it fail.

Netanyahu’s office said that after Israel agreed to the US proposal to close the gaps on August 16, Hamas rejected the proposal and killed 6 of the kidnapped in cold blood, and called on the world to demand that Hamas release the Israeli kidnapped immediately.

Hamas meets mediators

In the same context, Hamas revealed that it met with Egyptian and Qatari mediators in Doha as part of the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.

The movement said that its negotiating delegation, headed by Khalil al-Hayya, met in Doha with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Egyptian Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel.

The movement expressed its readiness to implement the ceasefire agreement, based on the announcement of US President Joe Biden and the Security Council resolution, immediately.

The movement also denied setting any new demands, and at the same time rejected any new conditions for the agreement by any party.

Hamas renewed its rejection of any projects related to the post-cessation of aggression phase, stressing that the management of the Gaza Strip is an internal Palestinian affair.

Hamas welcomed the continued role of mediators in reaching a ceasefire agreement and the occupation’s withdrawal from Gaza, and stressed its response to them.

She added that she welcomes the role of Egypt and Qatar, and their efforts in indirect negotiations to stop the aggression against the Palestinian people, and expressed her welcome for holding a national dialogue with all Palestinian factions and forces, to agree on a vision to confront the repercussions of the current stage.

In the same context, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that reaching a ceasefire in Gaza is an urgent necessity.
