Prisoner’s Club: The spread of diseases and epidemics among Palestinian prisoners News

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club warned of the dangers of the spread of diseases and epidemics among the ranks of prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons, in light of many data indicating the spread of some diseases, specifically skin diseases.

The Prisoners’ Club said in a statement that the measures that the Israeli occupation prison administration continues to implement against the prisoners after the Al-Aqsa Flood Battle, in addition to systematic torture operations, have led to injuries among the ranks of the prisoners.

These measures contributed to the deterioration of the health conditions of the prisoners in general and the spread of some diseases among their ranks. The most prominent of these measures is the severe overcrowding in the cells, which was imposed by a decision of the occupation government. The majority of the cells contain more than 10 prisoners, which means an increase in each cell by at least 4 prisoners.

What exacerbates the conditions of the prisoners is the limited availability of water, the reduction in the number of showers available to the prisoners, the double and unprecedented conditions of isolation that the prisoners live in, and the deprivation of them of adequate movement.

Starvation policy

The starvation policy pursued by the occupation also affected their health conditions, in addition to the lack of clothing and the prison administration’s confiscation of the prisoners’ clothes after October 7, as these aspects affected the level of personal hygiene of the prisoners, with the lack of cleaning materials available, and the prisoners being forced to wash their clothes. And wear it while wet.

The Prisoners’ Club stressed that the effects of these measures worsen over time, which will affect the health conditions of thousands of prisoners and detainees, especially in light of the continued detention campaigns that affected thousands after the Al-Aqsa flood.

Medical crimes

The Prisoners’ Club also revealed that the Israeli prison administration has escalated the level of medical crimes that have gone beyond the concept of (intentional negligence), which over the past few years has been the main reason for the martyrdom of many prisoners in occupation prisons.

The club pointed out that the torture operations that caused the death of 7 prisoners after last October 7 in the occupation prisons are considered a case of medical crimes.

It is noteworthy that the number of Palestinian prisoners by the end of last year amounted to more than 8,800 male and female prisoners.
