President of Brazil: Israel’s claim of the right to defend Gaza has turned into revenge News

Brazilian President Lula da Silva said on Friday that the right to defense claimed by Israel in the Gaza Strip has turned into revenge in light of the daily violations of international humanitarian law.

Da Silva explained – during a speech delivered by the President at the G7 summit, the content of which was published on his account on the Anatolia Agency.

Yesterday, Thursday, the 50th G7 summit began, which includes the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, and Italy, which is hosting the summit.

The Brazilian President previously repeated his “strong” statements regarding the war on Gaza, stressing that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians, likening the occupation’s actions to Nazi genocide during World War II.

His statements aroused the ire of Israel, which then declared him an “undesirable person” and summoned the Brazilian ambassador and demanded that he apologize, while da Silva summoned his country’s ambassador to Israel for consultations.

Angry Israeli reactions condemning da Silva’s statements continue, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “Comparing Israel to the Nazi Holocaust and Hitler is crossing a red line.”

Since the Al-Aqsa Flood operation carried out by the Palestinian resistance on October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza that has led to the death of at least 37,266 Palestinians in Gaza, most of them civilians, according to the latest statistics of the Ministry of Health in the Strip.

Israel is facing increasing international legal pressure as a result of the war, as it was held accountable for the first time before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing genocide against the Palestinians in a case brought by South Africa.
