Anatolia News Agency said that the Arab League postponed an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers, which was scheduled to be held the day after tomorrow, Sunday, to discuss developments in Syria and the Palestinian territories.

The agency added that the emergency meeting was scheduled to discuss the current situation in Syria, the continuation of the Israeli aggression and massacres against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories, and the Israeli threats to Iraq.

It quoted the Arab League as saying that the emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers, which was scheduled to be held next Sunday at the headquarters of the League’s General Secretariat, has been postponed to a later date, without further details about the reason for the postponement.

The Egyptian News Agency confirmed the same matter, and reported that the emergency meeting came at the joint request of Syria and Palestine.

The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, announced last Monday that the Arab League will hold a ministerial meeting next Sunday regarding the continuation of the Israeli crime of genocide against the Palestinian people.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously announced on Tuesday, in a post on its account on the X platform, that, at the request of Syria, an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council will be held at the ministerial level next Sunday.

The Arab League did not confirm this, other than an announcement it issued yesterday evening, Thursday, to journalists, postponing the date of the meeting.

The Syrian request for the meeting comes while the Syrian opposition factions have been engaged in clashes with regime forces in various regions of the country since November 27. The armed factions entered the city of Aleppo last Friday, and the next day they extended their control over Idlib Governorate.

After completing control of Aleppo and Idlib, the opposition continued its advance towards the Hama Governorate in the center of the country to control it, and yesterday evening, Thursday, it was able to enter the city of Hama.
