A public opinion poll, conducted by the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, showed that 48% of Israelis support continuing military pressure with the aim of achieving a prisoner exchange deal, while 40% believe that this deal should be concluded and the war on Gaza should be ended.

The poll also showed that 79% of supporters of military pressure are usually voters for the ruling coalition parties, while 64% of those calling for the deal to be completed usually belong to opposition party voters.

Regarding the ability to subjugate the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), 48% of Israelis believe that Israel is unable to achieve this, while 35% believe that it can succeed in doing so.

70% of Israelis expressed their support for holding early elections in Israel, with 38% of them seeing the necessity of holding general elections immediately, while 32% believe that elections should take place immediately after the end of the war.

The economic situation deteriorated

Last April, the Israeli organization “Latet” published an opinion poll on the repercussions of the war in the Gaza Strip on Israeli society in economic and social terms, and the public’s position on the performance of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government regarding the conduct of the war.

Regarding the economic situation, nearly a third of Israelis reported that their economic situation has deteriorated compared to last year.

According to the poll, 30.7% of Israelis reported that their economic situation had deteriorated significantly compared to last year.

While 83.8% expressed that their economic situation worsened due to the cost of living, and 27.3% believed that the reason was the accumulation of debt.

Also, 24.7% of Israelis indicated that their economic and financial conditions worsened due to increased mortgage payments and higher interest rates.

The Israeli Walla website stated that this poll showed worrying data, as about half of the Israelis believe that the government is unable to deal with the hardships of war, at a time when the financial, economic, social and psychological conditions for the Israelis have worsened.

These results reflect the division in Israeli public opinion regarding strategies for dealing with the war on Gaza and internal political trends, with mounting calls to re-evaluate the current leadership and policies through early elections.
