Yesterday, Tuesday, Politico newspaper quoted an American official as saying that the current Israeli military operations in Gaza are breathing life into the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), indicating that Israel’s goal in the war “to eliminate Hamas” is unachievable.

The official explained that the Israeli army can reduce or disable Hamas’ capabilities, but the basic requirements that enable it to form, develop, and grow remain in place.

On the other hand, 4 American officials told the newspaper that they agree with the opinion that the current government’s strategy in Israel against Hamas is unlikely to achieve what the Israelis consider “complete victory” in the Gaza Strip.

These officials added that the recent statement by US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell that “Israel is unlikely to achieve complete victory in Gaza” was not a mistake or an unexpected comment, but rather the way in which the administration of President Joe Biden currently assesses the situation on the ground.

They also said that every time a senior Biden aide spoke of the inability of Israeli weapons to destroy “Hamas’ ideology or come up with a plan for the next day,” they were indirectly indicating that Israel’s goal of achieving “absolute victory” was not possible.

It is noteworthy that Campbell’s comments came one day after his boss, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, said that Israeli military tactics could fuel what he described as “rebellion,” stressing that Israel must leave Gaza, as he put it.

In this context, Foreign Ministry spokesman Vedant Patel said that if Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip are not accompanied by a political plan for the future of the Strip and the Palestinian people, “Hamas will continue to return.”

A few days ago, the occupation army decided to return to the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City and Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip, where it had left after announcing the end of military operations there, saying that the Hamas movement had reorganized its ranks in the two areas, amid criticism of the failure of the Israeli army’s strategies, which prompted it to return to places. He suffered huge losses.
