Farmers’ discontent continues in Europe. In Poland on Sunday evening, protesters began blocking a major border crossing with Germany in Slubice, opposite the German city of Frankfurt (Oder). Both lanes of the A2 motorway were cut, confirmed a spokesperson for the local police.

Polish farmers are still protesting against European regulations and imports of non-EU products that they consider do not comply with European standards.

The demonstrators planned a blockade for 25 days. But after cross-talks with local officials, the blockade had to be quickly lifted

According to Dariusz Wrobel, one of the organizers of the movement, “it depends on things that we cannot predict”he said, on the eve of the Council of Agriculture Ministers of EU countries, this Monday in Brussels. “We need to start taking ourselves seriously.”

Polish farmers question the European Green Deal but also and above all the arrival of Ukrainian agricultural products on the Polish market. A dispute between Warsaw, Brussels and Kyiv.

On Friday, the Polish government indicated that the country was “far from an agreement” with Ukraine on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal, for his part, declared that Ukraine reserved “the right to apply retaliatory measures”.
