In Poland, farmers have been mobilizing for four months to protest against food products imported from Ukraine.
The agricultural question has been agitating Poland for four months. Since last November, Polish farmers have stepped up their actions, notably blocking crossing points at the Ukrainian border.
Polish farmers continue to block roads in front of six checkpoints. Most of the trucks are in front of the Krakivets and Yahodyn checkpoints. To protest against the import of Ukrainian food products, which according to them induce unfair competition.
Polish strikers do not allow trucks to pass through the Shehyni checkpoint in either direction. Faced with tensions between the two countries, Warsaw and kyiv will meet on March 28.
Due to the blockade, goods intended for the armed forces are also queuing at the border. This was reported by Nazar Smyk, a Ukrainian living in the United Kingdom who buys military and industrial equipment for Ukraine. Three of its trucks are waiting to pass through the Medyka-Shehynia checkpoint.
Last Monday, Polish Prime Minister Donad Tusk, who wanted to go further, declared that he wanted to demand sanctions from the European Union against products imported from Russia and Belarus.
Last February, Latvia banned the import of food, fisheries and fodder from Russia and Belarus, including via intermediate countries. This provision in the Latvian Agricultural Law will be applicable until July 2025.
