Photos: Death and devastation in Gaza after two months of war between Israel and Hamas | Israelo-Palestinian conflict

Gaza has been ravaged by more than two months of incessant Israeli bombardments which razed entire neighborhoods and caused the death and destruction of the enclave’s 2.3 million inhabitants.

Hospitals, schools and refugee camps have been targeted, while United Nations personnel and facilities have also been attacked by Israel at an unprecedented rate.

More than 17,000 people were killed in the Israeli attack, according to Palestinian authorities, including more than 7,000 children.

Hundreds of thousands more people have been displaced in the Gaza Strip and more than 46,000 people have been injured in Gaza since then.

Less than 1 percent of the injured were evacuated through the Rafah crossing to Egypt for treatment, Gaza health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said Thursday.

A week-long truce between Israel and Hamas was brokered by Qatar and other mediators to allow the release of prisoners captured by Hamas during its attack on southern Israel on October 7, which killed more than of 1,200 people, according to Israeli authorities. In exchange, Israel released hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

The truce ended on December 1 and fighting has since resumed.
