The Ministry of Health in Gaza appealed to all institutions to provide the necessary fuel for hospitals and ambulances in the Strip to prevent the disaster.
The ministry said – in a statement on Friday – that patients in the sector’s hospitals are facing death due to running out of fuel.
She added that the sector hospitals are forced to cut off electricity from some departments because of this.
So far, the Israeli bombing has led to 22 hospitals out of 38.
Hospitals, which are still working, are very scarce in fuel, medical supplies and blood stocks, and are witnessing a large flow of wounded in light of the escalation of Israeli bombing.
Yesterday, Palestinian media published a picture showing the accumulation of newborns (premature) in a single nursery inside a Gaza Strip hospital due to the interruption of electricity, and the work of generators was suspended as a result of running out of fuel.
Stefan Dujarric, a spokesman for the United Nations Secretary -General, said earlier that the organization was allowed to enter 75,000 liters of fuel to Gaza, noting that this amount is not enough to cover one day of energy requirements in the Strip.
Out of service
Meanwhile, a civil defense spokesman in Gaza announced yesterday evening that the rescue vehicles in Gaza City were completely out of service.
The spokesman said that the civil defense crews moved a civilian car to save two stuck, adding that it could not meet distress calls.
The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip announced yesterday, Thursday, that all its vehicles were suspended from providing humanitarian services to citizens in the governorates of Gaza and the North, with the exception of one firefighting vehicle, due to the lack of spare parts and maintenance necessary to repair them.
The water crisis
On the other hand, an official in the Water Authority in Gaza told Al -Jazeera that there is a decrease of about 70%in the production of wells as a result of preventing the occupation to provide them with diesel.
The official added that since the occupation resumes its operations last March, no fuel has been supplied to wells in the Gaza Strip, noting that the diesel stock of the United Nations Office for Project Services in the southern sector has been redeemed recently.
The official in the Water Authority in Gaza said that the diesel currently will not suffice for more than a week, stressing that if it is not allowed to enter, the sector will face a disaster.
The Palestinian official indicated that the occupation continues to prevent the supply of the central province with water, and reduces the supply of the cities of Gaza and Khan Yunis.
