Tomorrow, Friday, the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad will organize the activities of the Second Palestinian National Dialogue Forum in the Turkish city of Istanbul, and its work will continue for two days. The ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip is at the top of the issues discussed by the conference and the related challenges facing the completion of the Palestinian national project.

The Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad was established on February 25, 2017 in the city of Istanbul, through a massive gathering of more than 6,000 Palestinians around the world, with the aim of activating the role of Palestinians abroad in political participation and activating their role in national decision-making.

Importance

In an exclusive interview with Tel Aviv Tribune Net, Hisham Abu Mahfouz, Deputy Secretary-General of the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad, said that the second conference is gaining importance after about 9 months have passed since the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, as well as the need to strengthen the steadfastness of our people inside Palestine.

Abu Mahfouz added that the importance of the conference also comes from the issues on its agenda, such as:

  • The Palestinian situation at home and the continuation of the battle and its impact on the Palestinian people and the entire world.
  • The mass movement spread around the world (against) the occupation and its killing and genocide against the Palestinian people.
  • Strengthening the international position and standing by the true Palestinian narrative.

He also spoke about the number of attendees and their affiliations being of great importance to the conference, “We are keen to invite a number of Palestinian national figures, whether at the level of leadership of mass action, factions, or Palestinian institutions, in order for this dialogue to be broad and include the entire Palestinian spectrum, in the presence of approximately 200.” An influential figure politically, socially, publicly and in the media.”

The conference sessions, which will be held on June 28 and 29, will discuss a number of topics, including:

  • The political environment accompanying the Al-Aqsa flood locally, regionally and internationally.
  • The challenges and opportunities imposed by the Al-Aqsa flood battle and the war of extermination on Gaza.
  • The Palestinian national project in terms of challenges and how to achieve.
  • Global popular solidarity with Gaza and what is happening there.

The Deputy Secretary-General of the People’s Congress said, “The issues raised by the conference focus on investing in global solidarity efforts against the Zionist project, engaging with it abroad, and resisting the occupation, as well as responding to the student movement and what we can offer it so that it is not just limited interaction.”

The spokesman added, “We must build on our Palestinian narrative, which was adopted by the mass movement, and the slogan of Palestine from the sea to the river has become proclaimed by even the West. We must monitor this movement and how to preserve it, support it, invest it, and develop it.”

Outcomes and the Gaza War

Regarding the recommendations and outcomes that the conference aims to reach, Abu Mahfouz said that we are keen to develop the role played by the Palestinians abroad, and we are taking a step ahead of the mass movement in the street towards seeking to find a popular alliance that will strengthen this movement.

He added that those attending the conference also aim – through this dialogue – to find a framework that represents all Palestinians, with their various personalities and factions, in order to rearrange the Palestinian house.

The Deputy Secretary-General of the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad concluded his statements to Tel Aviv Tribune Net by saying that the conference “sends a message to our people in Gaza and the West Bank and the detainees in prisons that we are with them, and we are strengthening their steadfastness in the face of the suffering they are suffering, and that this forum aims to strengthen national cohesion and strengthen the line of resistance in order to liberate the entire Palestinian land.” .
