The Pakistani ambassador to the United States, Radwan Saeed Sheikh, denied that his country was subjected to any American pressure to recognize Israel.
This came during his speech in front of the attendees, in a societal event held in the city of Dallas, which dealt with a group of national and international issues.
On Sunday, the Pakistani news channel “Jio” quoted Ambassador Saeed Sheikh as saying that “his country’s position on Israel has not changed,” and that he is “rooted in the vision of the country’s founder, the greatest leader Muhammad Ali Jinnah.”
“Our policy towards Israel is consistent with the ideology of the greatest leader,” the Pakistani ambassador said, adding that Pakistan’s approach to this issue is based on firm principles, and is not affected by any external pressure. “
According to “Joe”, the statements of the Pakistani ambassador come in light of the ongoing speculation of the international media about changing the dynamics of the Islamic world’s relations with Israel.
Former Pakistan Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Gilani said in 2023 that his country was not considering normalizing relations with Israel.
Gilani stressed that his country’s position is fixed on the Palestinian issue and the right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state on the 1967 borders.
This is not the first time that Islamabad has confirmed its position on the normalization of relations with Israel, as it affirmed, according to its former foreign minister, Shah Mahmoud Quraishi, at the end of 2020, its position rejecting the recognition of Israel until a permanent and tangible settlement of the Palestinian issue is reached.
