In a dark morning on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, the eye of the truth that has long been monitored the suffering of the Palestinians was extinguished, when a treacherous bullet was launched by an Israeli sniper, to end the life of one of the most prominent and most influential Arab journalists, Sherine Abu Aqla.
Today, the third anniversary of the moment that rocked the conscience of millions, when Sherine fell at the entrance to the Jenin camp while she was carrying out her professional duty.
It was not just a passing victim. Rather, that moment marked the beginning of a new stage of systematic training in journalists, which reached its climax in the war raging on the Gaza Strip and repeated attacks in the West Bank.
3 years have passed, longing does not fade and the question does not fabricate: Where is her face that millions used to see on the screens? Where is her calm voice that penetrated the bombing of the defender to tell the truth? What would she say today about the children of Gaza, about the hunger of women and the men of men? How would she describe Palestine between genocide, siege and resistance?
In a capable paradox, an American investigative investigation revealed that its killer, the Israeli soldier, “Alon Skagio”, was killed last June with an explosive device in the same place where it was assassinated (Jenin Camp). He later lived two occupied and settler years, while she turned into an immortal flower of freedom and the homeland, and an unforgettable icon.

But the blatant truth remains that the one who killed Sherine was not really an individual, a gun, or even a plane, but rather a complete system that supported and covered the crime, the system of impunity that made the killing of journalists a practice running live without fear of accountability.
Sherine was not a lot of bustle in her career, but she was like water in her influence, calm but deep, and as soon as she was absent until her overwhelming presence was manifested.
3 years have passed, and no one was able to fill her place in the press and conscience, colleagues are absent and others come, but Sherine remains an exceptional situation that is not repeated.
The press is not a crime, this is an axiom that does not need proof, but rather the occupation and the killing of journalists and impunity is the real crime, and on its path the walkers walk, a hand handing over a hand and a voice emitting from a voice.
On the third anniversary of her martyrdom, Sherine appears as if she is still watching from afar, waiting to conclude a report that has not yet been completed, but the truth that she has always sought to reveal remain alive: there is no right behind demands, and there is no truth behind them who are like them, journalists carrying the flame of the word and the truth despite the risks.
3 years ago, and the calls do not calm down with accountability and end the impunity of the killers from punishment, while the number of journalists who fall in Palestine increases, in light of extremely dangerous circumstances that increased the bitterness of Sherine’s absence and her lack.
