The legendary Teahupoo wave, in Tahiti, could be excluded from the 2024 Olympic Surfing Games. The construction of an aluminum tower, planned in the middle of the lagoon, arouses strong opposition from environmentalists, surfers and residents of the village . They fear that the construction of this tower will destroy the marine ecosystem and alter the quality of the wave. The local government is studying several options, including moving the event to Papara, another commune in Tahiti.

Symbols and places linked to India vandalized in Reunion
The statue of Mahatma-Gandhi, symbol of peace and non-violence, was found decapitated in Saint-Paul, on the island of Reunion. This act of vandalism aroused strong emotion in the Tamil community. The inhabitants of the town of Bandradoua, in Mayotte, experienced nights of violence and terror, after a sporting event which degenerated. Clashes broke out. Armed and hooded young people took over a neighborhood of the town, looting and burning houses.
