The Israeli occupation army admitted today, Saturday, to killing 26 Palestinians and arresting about 30 others, since the start of the large-scale military operation in the northern occupied West Bank 4 days ago.
Last Wednesday morning, the Israeli army launched a military operation in cities in the northern West Bank, which it said was the largest since Operation Defensive Shield in 2002, as large forces stormed the cities of Jenin and Tulkarm and their camps.
The occupation army also stormed the Far’a camp near Tubas, before withdrawing from the Far’a camp at dawn on Thursday, and from Tulkarm on the same evening, while the operation is still continuing in Jenin for the fourth day.
The Israeli army radio reported in a statement that “since the beginning of the operation in the northern West Bank, 26 terrorists have been eliminated,” and explained that “its forces have arrested about 30 wanted Palestinians since the beginning of the operation.” According to the radio, the army assesses the achievements of the operation so far as very good.
On Friday, the occupation army, which sent armoured columns supported by aircraft and drones to Jenin, said that it had killed 20 Palestinians since the start of its military operation, and arrested 17 wanted persons.
In contrast, the Prisoners’ Affairs Authority and the Prisoners’ Club said in a joint statement on Saturday that the number of detainees since the start of the military operation has reached about 70.
In conjunction with its devastating war on Gaza, the occupation expanded its operations in the West Bank while settlers escalated their attacks, resulting in the killing of 674 Palestinians since October 7, 2023, in addition to more than 5,600 wounded, according to a statement by the Palestinian Ministry of Health on Friday evening.
With American support, Israel waged a devastating war on Gaza, resulting in more than 134,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and widespread famine.
In contempt of the international community, Israel continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate halt, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
