Not in My Name: One of the Leading Jewish Voices Supporting Gaza | Documentary

Antony Loewenstein is a prominent Jewish voice critical of Israel’s attacks on Gaza, but some have called him a traitor.

Jewish journalist Antony Loewenstein is one of the most prominent voices among Australian Jews speaking out against Israeli military attacks in Gaza. But he has been branded a traitor by many in the Jewish community.

“I’ve been called a self-hating Jew, a traitor and worse,” the best-selling author says. “I’m so angry about what’s happening in Gaza that I won’t stay silent.”

Loewenstein is outraged by the rising death toll in Gaza and rejects any suggestion that Israel’s military campaign is necessary to keep Jews safe. “In fact, it makes us more vulnerable. And until the Palestinians are safe, Israelis will never be safe, and neither will the Jews,” he says.

Although some Australian Zionists view activists like him as a danger to the Jewish community amid rising anti-Semitism linked to the Gaza war, Loewenstein continues to speak out, despite receiving death threats.

Not in My Name is a documentary film by Brietta Hague.
