Northern Europe: a cold wave and bad weather hit some countries


Extreme cold waves continue to hit several northern regions, the thermometer fell below -30 degrees in Oslo, a first in the Norwegian capital. Other countries are facing significant flooding.

Extreme cold waves continue to hit Northern Europe, particularly in Scandinavia, such as in Oslo, where the temperature fell below -30 degrees, a first for the Norwegian capital.

Several ski resorts had to close in Norway, while reindeer herders had to brave the cold and work in -46 degrees Celsius.

In Sweden, the country is experiencing its coldest period in 25 years, on Saturday the thermometer showed -18°.

In western Germany, residents of Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony were still dealing with the consequences of flooding on Saturday. Residents, firefighters, rescue workers, police and army soldiers continued to defend the softened levees against the masses of water.

The United Kingdom is facing severe weather causing significant flooding in parts of the country. Several buildings were submerged and streets were completely flooded, forcing many residents to evacuate their homes.
