North-west Italy hit by violent winds


With wind gusts of up to 150km/h in certain areas, the damage in northern Italy is considerable.

This is particularly the case in Ivrea, a few kilometers north of Turin. Roofs torn off, cars damaged… Firefighters carried out numerous interventions in the city to help residents.

The situation, which should calm down in the coming days, is due to a meteorological phenomenon: the Foehn effect. A hot wind that often blows in the Alps.
