Gaza – The aggression of the Israeli occupation has intensified during the past few days in the northern Gaza Strip, which has entered the exhausted health system in an emergency, in conjunction with the continued prevention of the entry of medicines, medical supplies and fuel needed to operate hospitals since the beginning of last March.
The organizers of northern Gaza hospitals warned against exacerbating what they described as the disastrous health conditions in the event that the occupation continued to target its surroundings with fire and artillery shells, which poses a threat to everyone who tries to reach them, and the loss of more victims without being able to provide the necessary care for them.
The Israeli occupation forces have made the three hospitals northern Gaza, which provide services to more than 400,000 Palestinians, have made them a target since the beginning of the aggression on the Gaza Strip, and they deliberately siege and removed most of them from service more than once.
Stifling siege
During the last night, the occupation army tanks were stationed around the Indonesian Hospital, northeast of Jabalia camp, and fired directly at the building inside which there were 55 people, including 4 doctors and 8 nurses, and dozens of patients who are unable to move, and their evacuation was not possible as a result of the continuous shooting of its surroundings.
The director of the hospital, Dr. Marwan Al -Sultan, said that it is difficult to reach the hospital as a result of being besieged by the fire of the Israeli engines, “Kawad Kabter”, which targets every moving, which raised the fear among the medical teams, and led to a large part of them leaving him, and became almost out of service.
In an exclusive interview with Al -Jazeera Net, the Sultan stressed that the medical staff is currently dealing with cases residing inside the hospital only, due to the difficulty of the arrival of new cases to it due to the artillery shelling on the surrounding areas, and the continuous shooting by the drones.
He explained that the state of abuse and violence that the occupation forces used against the medical staff in previous invasions led them to leave the hospital for fear of their lives, and the wounded are dealt with with a minimum medical requirements to save their lives, and he warned against his continued departure from service, as he is the only hospital in northern Gaza that contains an intensive care room, operating rooms and integrated service.
It is noteworthy that the occupation forces burned parts of the Indonesian hospital, and destroyed most of its contents during their land invasion of the northern Gaza Strip in November 2023, and then surrounded him and removed him from service again in May 2024 after a part of it was restored, and returned to paralyzed his work in October last year.
Crisis management
The administration of Al -Awda Hospital, which is only hundreds of meters away from the Indonesian Hospital, activated an emergency, due to the intensification of the bombing of the surrounding areas.
The director of the hospital, Dr. Mohamed Salha, said that the artillery shelling and fire continued by the drones prevented the patients and the injured from reaching the hospital, and the movement is limited to ambulances despite the risk they are exposed to.
He explained to Al -Jazeera Net that it is difficult to reach injuries in the targeted areas, due to the seriousness of the field conditions and the difficulty of moving ambulances.
He pointed out that Al -Awda Hospital suffers from a severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies that they have not been provided with 80 days ago, due to the closure of the occupation forces, the Gaza Strip crossings.
The hospital administration is working to provide its delicious fuel through the operation of other departments and extinguishing due to the lack of fuel for 40 days, and it is valid for his fear of repeating the siege of the occupation forces to the hospital, as happened in 3 times earlier, and in anticipation of that the medical staff kept a resident of it.
He stressed that the medical staff is not sufficient, and there is only one surgeon who performs life -saving operations. He warned of a health disaster if the situation remains the same from supplying the hospital with medicines, medical supplies and fuel, calling on all international bodies to save the health situation in the Gaza Strip.
Initial services
The Ministry of Health in Gaza launched a field hospital inside the walls of Kamal Adwan Hospital, which is located in the Beit Lahia project, and was burned and destroyed last January.
In this context, the nursing supervisor in the hospital, Eid Sabah, said that the northern Gaza Strip is exposed to severe aggression over the past days targeting the health system, and the hospital is working at the minimum treatment of the injured in light of the inability to transfer injuries to the Hostess and Indonesian hospitals, which are besieged by the occupation forces with fire through drones, artillery and smoky shells.
Sabah indicated – in an interview with Al -Jazeera Net – that the field hospital provides first aid and attempts to save life, and then transfer the injuries to Gaza City hospitals.
He appealed to international institutions to work to provide the necessary medical needs to continue to provide medical services.
The government media office in Gaza called on the international community to urgent international intervention to protect the remainder of the health system, provide safe paths for medical relief, and to evacuate the wounded and the patients immediately to receive treatment outside the sector.
