Residential buildings, public facilities and infrastructure have been attacked across Gaza, as the UN accuses Israel of refusing 82 of 91 attempts to deliver aid to the north.

The Israeli army targeted residential buildings, public facilities and infrastructure across the Gaza Strip, killing at least nine members of a family in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

From Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, Tel Aviv Tribune’s Hani Mahmoud said on Thursday that Israeli ground forces were carrying out a military operation aimed at expanding the Netzarim Corridor – a 6.5 km (4 mile) stretch established in the center of the enclave by the Israeli army which divides the north and south of Gaza.

“In doing so, he is carrying out these attacks to destroy the remaining residential buildings… which, according to the Israeli military, are used as observation points by Palestinian fighters,” Mahmoud reported, adding that witnesses said there had a large number of civilians inside these houses.

In northern Gaza, Israeli planes carried out air raids, targeting the last residential buildings in the town of Beit Lahiya, killing at least four people, Mahmoud said.

In the south, at least four people were killed Thursday morning when Israeli drones attacked a group of Palestinian civilians near a camp for displaced people in the town of Abasan, east of the city of Khan Younis, according to the Wafa news agency.

The Israeli military has not commented on the recent attacks. It generally asserts that its operations target Hamas and that it strives to avoid civilian casualties.

The United Nations said earlier this month that more than 70 percent of those confirmed killed in Gaza were women and children.

Blocking help

The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said on social media platform on November 25.

Israel also prevented nine other attempts to deliver humanitarian supplies to the north of the territory, which has been under an Israeli military siege and constant bombardment for more than 50 days.

“Survival conditions are decreasing for the 65,000 to 75,000 people who remain there,” UNRWA said on Thursday.

The Israeli war in Gaza has killed at least 44,282 Palestinians and injured 104,880 others since October 7, 2023.

There has been no progress toward a ceasefire in Gaza, but the United States – Israel’s main political and military ally – has said it will step up efforts to achieve it.

“Over the coming days, the United States will make further efforts with Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Israel and others to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza with the release of the hostages and the end of war without Hamas in power,” said US President Joe Biden. Wednesday.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, in a parallel conflict, took effect Wednesday and was in effect Thursday.
