Late yesterday evening and early Saturday morning, the Israeli occupation forces stormed the city of Qalqilya in the northern West Bank, and also stormed the village of Jalboun, east of the city of Jenin. This coincided with extremist settlers’ attacks on farmers in the village of Bramallah and their setting fire to the farms of another village.
In Qalqilya, local platforms reported that the occupation forces stormed the city at night, and video clips showed soldiers raiding a house in the Jaidi neighborhood of the city and assaulting its owners.
Local Palestinian platforms also reported that the occupation forces stormed the village of Jalboun, east of Jenin, and armed clashes broke out with Palestinian resistance fighters in the Al-Germany neighborhood inside the city.
On the other hand, the Israeli occupation forces imposed a curfew on the town of Deir Istiya, northwest of Salfit.
Yesterday, Friday, military vehicles belonging to the occupation army stormed the town amidst the firing of sound bombs. The occupation forces demanded that shop owners close their shops. They also called on citizens, via loudspeakers, not to go to mosques to perform Friday prayers.
Settlers attacks and burning farms
Along with the occupation forces, extremist settlers set fire to olive trees and agricultural fields in the eastern region of the village of Al-Mughayir, east of Ramallah.
Eyewitnesses from the town’s residents reported that a group of settlers stormed, at dawn today, the Al-Hajjar area on the eastern side of the village, under the protection of the occupation forces, and set fire to olive trees and agricultural crops.
Extremist settlers also attacked farmers in the town of Ni’lin, west of Ramallah, and seized an agricultural tractor while plowing olive fields.
International condemnation of the targeting of UNRWA headquarters
On the political level, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the attack launched by Israeli extremists on the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in East Jerusalem. Guterres said in a tweet on the X platform, “Targeting relief workers and humanitarian facilities is unacceptable, and must stop.”
European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell also said that he strongly condemned the attack on UNRWA buildings in East Jerusalem and called for the perpetrators to be held accountable. He added that the responsibility to ensure the safety of humanitarian workers lies with Israel.
Borrell stressed that UNRWA is an indispensable lifeline for millions in Gaza and the region.
For his part, Norway’s Foreign Minister, Espen Barth Edda, expressed his shock at the attack on the UNRWA headquarters in East Jerusalem.
The Norwegian Foreign Minister stressed that Israel has a duty to protect United Nations employees and buildings at any time, and called for these events to be investigated and those responsible to be held accountable.
Barth Ida also stressed that UNRWA is a lifeline for millions of Palestinian refugees.
