A giant twelve-minute fireworks display on the famous Copacabana beach in Brazil, to celebrate the transition to 2024. For the occasion, many people gathered there to welcome this new year, feet in the water. Mostly Brazilians, coming from all over the country, but also tourists.

I feel great, it’s the first time I’ve come to Rio. There’s no better way to spend New Year’s Eve than on the beach here. It’s an incredible experience“, explains Dominique Simpson, an American tourist.

Further north, in the United States, the city of New York organized the festivities on the legendary Times Square. Hundreds of thousands of people were present for the count. For nearly a century, Times Square has been home to one of the world’s largest New Year’s celebrations.
