The Government Media Office and Civil Defense in Gaza revealed new details about the horrific massacre committed by the Israeli army at dawn today, Tuesday, in the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis.

The office said – in a statement via the Telegram application – that 22 martyrs did not reach the hospitals after the massacre, as their bodies melted and disappeared due to the giant bombs that the occupation forces used to bomb the site that contained tents housing displaced people.

The Civil Defense in Gaza announced earlier today that its teams had recovered 40 martyrs and 60 wounded who had fallen in Israeli raids on a camp in an area that contained about 30 tents for displaced people.

The targeted site is within what Israel claims is a “safe” area extending between the governorates of Rafah and Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Families disappeared

The Civil Defense explained that the bombing caused great destruction, as it was carried out with highly explosive missiles, which left 3 holes with a depth of about 10 meters.

Civil Defence spokesman Mahmoud Basal told Tel Aviv Tribune that entire families disappeared into the sand as a result of the massacre.

Basal added that it is not possible to determine the number of victims of the bombing of the tents of the displaced in Al-Mawasi because of the continued reports of missing persons.

For its part, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said that the Israeli bombing of Mawasi Khan Yunis was carried out with American-made MK-84 bombs.

The observatory added that the use of this type of bomb with wide destruction is an indication of the intention to kill the largest number of civilians.

Maha Al-Husseini, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor’s strategy director, told Tel Aviv Tribune that the massacre shows Israel’s premeditated intention to cause the largest number of civilian casualties.

In statements to Tel Aviv Tribune, Al-Husseini said that nothing justifies Israel using the weapons it dropped on Al-Mawasi.

claim and denial

The Israeli occupation army admitted that it bombed the humanitarian area in Mawasi Khan Yunis, and claimed that it targeted 3 leaders in the Hamas movement, who worked to plan and carry out military operations against the army and the Israelis.

However, Hamas denied the occupation army’s claim that there were resistance fighters in the targeted Al-Mawasi area in Khan Yunis, describing those claims as a blatant lie.

Last July, the Al-Mawasi area in Khan Yunis was subjected to Israeli shelling, which resulted in the death and injury of hundreds of displaced persons. The Israeli army claimed at the time that it had targeted leaders of the Hamas movement, including Muhammad al-Deif, the leader of the Qassam Brigades.

Condemning the massacre

The UN Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, strongly condemned the Israeli raids on the densely populated Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis.

Wennesland renewed his call for all parties to immediately reach an agreement that would lead to the release of all detainees and a ceasefire.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide also condemned the Israeli raid on a safe area in Khan Yunis, noting that all parties are obligated to protect civilians.

Eide stressed the need to end the war, saying that all parties must protect civilians.

In Washington, National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said reports of a large number of civilian casualties in the Mawasi raid were extremely disturbing.

Kirby added that his country would seek more information from Israel about the bombing.

For his part, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy described what happened in Khan Yunis as shocking and confirms the importance of a ceasefire.

Continuous bombing

Meanwhile, the Israeli bombing of Gaza continued, leaving more martyrs.

Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent reported that two people were killed when the occupation forces bombed a house in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood east of Gaza City. A Palestinian was also killed when Israeli drones opened fire on citizens in the Zeitoun neighborhood southeast of Gaza City.

Six Palestinians were killed earlier when the occupation forces bombed a restaurant in Al-Shawa Square, east of the city.

In the middle of the Gaza Strip, Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent reported the death of a Palestinian woman and the injury of others in an Israeli bombardment that targeted a mosque in Al-Bureij camp.

In the southern Gaza Strip, 5 people were killed early today in a bombing on Qizan al-Najjar, east of Khan Yunis.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced today that the occupation committed 3 massacres in the Strip within 24 hours, resulting in 32 martyrs and 100 wounded arriving at hospitals.

The ministry said that the number of victims of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip rose to 41,020 martyrs and 94,925 wounded.

In another development, the Israeli army announced today that a colonel was moderately injured as a result of the collapse of a tunnel opening in the central Gaza Strip.
