A recent opinion poll showed that only 29% of Israelis believe that current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is most suitable to head the government.
The survey comes at a time when the occupation army continues to lose ground in Gaza, with 15 Israeli soldiers injured over the past 24 years, bringing the total number of casualties since October 7 to 2,511 soldiers and officers, and to more than 5,000 injured, according to Israeli media sources.
The number of Israeli army deaths also rose to 520, including 192 dead since the start of the ground operation on October 26.
Maariv newspaper reported – according to the results of the poll published today – that 29% of Israelis believe that Netanyahu is most suitable to head the government, compared to 42% who said that Minister in the War Council, Benny Gantz, is most suitable for the position.
According to the poll, 20% of Israelis did not have a specific answer in this regard, according to what the newspaper reported.
The survey was conducted by the Lazar Institute (private) on a random sample of 515 Israelis, with a margin of error of approximately 4.3%.
A previous opinion poll indicated that 64% of Israelis were dissatisfied with Netanyahu’s performance in the war on Gaza.
The poll revealed that if parliamentary elections were held in Israel, the State Camp party led by Gantz would be the largest party in Israel, winning 33 seats compared to the 12 seats it won in the November 2022 elections, while the Likud Party led by Netanyahu would win 20 seats compared to 33. He had won it in the last election.
It is noteworthy that thousands of Israelis demonstrate weekly throughout Israel, to demand the resignation of the current government and the holding of early elections.
Since the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, Netanyahu has been subjected to many criticisms from the opposition and former officials and military personnel who accused him of failing to manage the government and the war on Gaza.
