Netanyahu remains inflexible, despite fears of conflict escalation

Before members of his war cabinet, Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that the conflict in the Gaza Strip will continue, “until all objectives are achieved.” Namely, the elimination of Hamas and the release of the hostages.

After three months of bombings and as fears of a conflagration in the region increase, the Israeli Prime Minister also warned Hezbollah, which continues its clashes with the IDF in southern Lebanon.

The army spokesperson said Hezbollah attacked an Israeli military base in the north of the country on Saturday. These tensions, which have lasted for three months, have already caused dozens of deaths, mostly fighters from the armed group.

In the West Bank, too, tension is at its height. Police shoot at car suspected of plowing into two Israelis. A three-year-old Palestinian girl, a passenger in the vehicle, was shot and killed. In the Gaza Strip, military operations continue. The Israeli army, which is now focusing on the center and south of the territory, claims to have completed the dismantling of Hamas in the north.

According to the UN, this offensive has led to the displacement of 1.9 million Palestinians, who now live in extremely difficult conditions. According to the United Nations humanitarian affairs coordinator, Gaza is “simply become uninhabitable”.
