Israel Hume newspaper reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed closed talks that he was frustrated by US President Donald Trump’s steps in the Middle East.
The newspaper said that Netanyahu complained to his associates that Trump said “the correct matters” during the meetings and phone calls, especially with regard to Iran and Syria, but his practical steps do not match his statements.
The newspaper added that Netanyahu expressed a special concern about Trump’s support for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in strengthening his grip on Syria, while Trump gave Israel the green light to carry out any action he deems appropriate in Syria.
The newspaper confirmed that Netanyahu was not satisfied with Trump’s decision to start negotiations with Iran, and the concessions whose administration was intending to make the Iranians at certain points.
During the past week, Netanyahu also expressed concern about the dismissal of national security advisor Michael Waltz from his post, where Waltz is known for his militant stances towards Iran and the Middle East. The newspaper pointed out that the temporary appointment of Marco Rubio and the strict demands he presented to Iran have eased the concerns of the Israeli side.
The Washington Post reported earlier that one of the reasons for the dismissal of Waltz is his “intensive contacts” with Netanyahu on military action in Iran.
The newspaper confirmed that some of the Trump administration officials believe that Waltz was trying to weight the military action, and that he was working in close coordination with the Israelis.
