Social media sites in Egypt witnessed a state of controversy and questions after circulating statements to a number of prominent media professionals – some of them close to the government – in which they talked about a “major imminent event”, without clarifying its nature.
This ambiguity pushed the followers to present multiple interpretations and questions about whether the conversation warns of imminent changes on the Egyptian scene, whether locally or regionally, especially with regard to the Palestinian issue.
The journalist Ahmed Moussa warned through his program on the Echo of the Country (especially) that the current and next stage “needs focus and vigilance,” noting that changes may occur “shocks” as a result of external procedures.

Moussa explained that his statements do not target a certain party or person, but rather to the Egyptian people, stressing “the changes in positions may cause shock to some, and these matters may have serious repercussions”, without indicating what he meant by his speech.
He also stressed the necessity Caution in dealing with social media, saying, “I can’t say what can happen after an hour or a ball, and we must be responsible for any word or tweet.”
Moussa also pointed to the targeting of Egypt through electronic committees and extremist organizations, considering that “the positives are turned against us”, especially in the file of the Palestinian issue in which Egypt plays a pivotal role.
In turn, the journalist Tawfiq Okasha raised more questions, as he wrote a brief tweet on the X platform on May 20, in which he said, “The world will witness a serious event during the coming period.”

As for the journalist, Al -Daihi, he expressed in his article in the newspaper (owned by the state) under the title “Pay attention to the coming days” about his feeling of “cautious anxiety”, pointing to severe and rapid changes in the Middle East, and wrote “the regional image has become free of any fixed columns that can be leaning.”

He added that the most dangerous is the loss of confidence in the active parties, considering that Egypt stands at the heart of this turn, as he talked about a scattered mosaic scene, “a picture that makes him feel very anxious about the coming days,” hoping that it would be just a mirage.
For his part, the journalist Amr Adib expressed his dissatisfaction with the amplification of talking about a big event without clarification.
In his program, “The Story”, Adeeb said, “The repeated talk a week ago about a big event that raises people’s concern, and the phrases circulating on the communication sites are characterized by a very disturbing tone,” and described what is being circulated as “Khazabat”.

Vasive words that cause anxiety
In turn, tweeters and bloggers interacted on a large scale with these mysterious statements, so one of them wrote, “Amr Adib, then Ahmed Moussa says with dangerous changes and events that may occur, and they may have great repercussions, vague and incomprehensible words, raises anxiety and does not benefit.”
