The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has sent teams to rescue blocked people.
109 fishermen were saved from a drifting pack ice in the Okhotsk Sea, in the Sakhalin region, in the extreme east of Russia.
The incident occurred whenA 10 -meter crack was formed on the ice, extending from the village of Malki at the mouth of the Dolinka river.
In total, 44 fishermen were evacuated by a helicopter in mid-8 dispatched from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, but some of them decided to stay there so as not to abandon their catch and their equipment.
These fishermen were finally rescued by boat.
It is not uncommon for people to be blocked on the ice floe in Sakhalin, the largest island in Russia, which extends over more than 1,000 kilometers.
Last February, More than 80 fishermen were rescued when a ice floe broke away from the shore near the village of Starodubskoye.
Similarly, in 2020, more than 500 ice fishermen had to be evacuated from a pack ice near the bay of Mordvinov, as reported by the Russian state news agency.
