A fire that broke out early Thursday in a makeshift Roma settlement in Montenegro killed two women and two children, state broadcaster RTCG reported.
The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. in the southern Adriatic Sea town of Bar. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear and the ages of the children who died in the fire were not revealed.
Police have not yet made an official statement, but they told local media that the fire had destroyed several cabins.
When firefighters put out the fire, they found four bodies, according to reports.
One of the women was 19 and the other was elderly.
Similar Roma settlements in Montenegro and other countries in the Balkan region often include makeshift dwellings made of cardboard and wood that easily catch fire from heating during the winter months.
