The expert in strategic and military affairs, Major General Wassef Erekat, believes that the intensification of the Israeli occupation army’s artillery and air strikes on Jabalia camp (north) and Rafah (south) of the Gaza Strip reflects the state of weakness and exhaustion it has reached and its inability to achieve any achievement on the ground.
He said – in an analysis of the military scene in Gaza – that the Israeli army’s use of aircraft and land and sea artillery, 7 months after its aggression against the Gaza Strip, confirms that it is in a state of weakness and unable to remain steadfast, control and achieve goals on the ground.
Erekat added that the bombing of residential squares and places where people gather, such as shelter centers and hospitals, comes within the Israeli policy of the war of extermination, destruction and displacement, and also in light of the occupation army being exposed to great pressure from the Palestinian resistance. He said that the occupation army resorts to targeting civilians in Gaza to cover up its inability.
