Military Expert: Significant Development in Resistance Strategies in the West Bank | Politics

|

Military and strategic expert, Colonel Hatem Al-Falahi, said that the videos recently published by the resistance factions reflect a tangible qualitative development in the performance of the resistance in the West Bank, especially in the field of using explosive devices and remote detonation techniques.

In his analysis of the motives behind the escalation of armed action – during the military analysis of the situation in Gaza – Al-Falahi pointed to several main factors that motivate the resistance to escalate. Among these factors, he pointed to the arming of settlers in the West Bank, the continued seizure of Palestinian lands, policies of house demolitions, repeated arrests, and the security restrictions imposed on the Palestinian population.

He stressed that these practices constitute a strong incentive for the outbreak of a third intifada or the activation of armed action, stressing that political negotiations alone will not be sufficient to achieve progress under these circumstances.

Al-Falahi had indicated – in a previous analysis – that the occupation follows two parallel approaches to control the West Bank: the first is represented by the military and security strategy adopted by the army, the internal security service (Shabak) and the special forces, which aims to suppress the resistance in the West Bank areas.

The second approach, according to Al-Falahi, is represented by the decisive strategy adopted by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, which seeks to extend full control over Palestinian lands in the West Bank. In this context, Al-Falahi pointed to the distribution of approximately 200,000 weapons in the West Bank, which increases the intensity of tension and the danger of the situation.

Regarding the sources of weapons used by the Palestinian resistance in the West Bank, Al-Falahi referred to Israeli allegations that there are factories for manufacturing explosive devices in the region. He also referred to Israeli allegations of weapons smuggling operations from Jordan and the Gaza Strip towards the West Bank. However, Al-Falahi stressed that these allegations are often used as a pretext to justify Israeli military operations and escalate aggression against the Palestinians.
