Peter Lehner, an Israeli military spokesman, ruled out the possibility of eliminating the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) as claimed by Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, which is in line with what the US administration says that Israel is unlikely to achieve a “complete victory” in its war on the besieged Gaza Strip. .
The Israeli military spokesman said in a statement to Reuters that “killing every member of Hamas is an unrealistic goal and the army does not seek to achieve it,” claiming that eliminating Hamas as an authority can be achieved and is a military goal within reach.
Commenting on the Israeli official’s statement, military and strategic expert Colonel Hatem Al-Falahi said – in an analysis of the military scene in Gaza – that the occupation has added new goals to those it has been repeating since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip, which are dismantling Hamas’ capabilities, destroying the resistance’s infrastructure, and killing resistance leaders. And access to prisoners.
The new goals added by the occupation are: the buffer zone, military control over the Gaza Strip, and ending Hamas politically and militarily, that is, killing everyone who belongs to it in Gaza. Colonel Al-Falahi ruled out the possibility of achieving this goal because it requires accurate information and inspection of every individual in the Gaza Strip, stressing that the goals added by Israel are not achievable.
In the same context, Al-Falahi says that the Israeli army is focusing at this stage on a new strategy called “corridor and raid,” meaning to have corridors similar to the Netzarim axis, so that it can secure the advances of the Israeli sectors and their access to the depths of Gaza and carry out military and security operations quickly.
The occupation army seeks to have other axes within the Gaza Strip, with the aim – the military expert adds – of dividing the Gaza Strip into multiple regions to weaken it and control it, similar to the West Bank, which has 6 brigades divided according to regions.
Regarding the Israeli incursion into Deir al-Balah in the middle of the Gaza Strip, the military and strategic expert suggested two possibilities: either the occupation army is trying to carry out a cleansing operation in areas outside its control, or the 98th Division is carrying out an incursion towards the Nuseirat camp, Deir al-Balah and al-Maghazi in the middle of the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli occupation army said that its forces began a concentrated military campaign east of Deir al-Balah and the Bureij camp in the middle of the Gaza Strip, based on what it described as intelligence information provided by the Military Intelligence Division and the Internal Security Service (Shin Bet) regarding the presence of what it called “armed saboteurs.”
