Military expert for Al Jazeera Net: These weapons are used in the war on Gaza Policy

RamallahA Palestinian military expert said that the Israeli occupation army has used various and most modern types of weapons in its aggression against the Gaza Strip since last October 7, and has also stopped the export of weapons abroad, in addition to what it receives through the air bridge with the United States to enhance its arsenal.

Retired Major General Youssef Al-Sharqawi added in his interview with Tel Aviv Tribune Net that the occupation used all conventional weapons for its army, which is considered one of the strongest armies in the region and the world.

He said that among the weapons used are those being tested in preparation for other battles that the United States may wage in the world. The following are the most prominent weapons used:

PlanesThe occupation used its arsenal of aircraft, especially the F-35, and previous generation aircraft, the F-15 and F-16.

He also used all types of helicopters, such as Apache and Cobra, in addition to modern reconnaissance aircraft, especially unmanned aircraft. He also obtained unmanned aircraft from Britain and Germany for tracking, surveillance, and ground surveying to track down Israeli prisoners in the Gaza tunnels.

Heavy EquipmentThe Palestinian expert says that the occupation used tank weapons, including the latest generation of Merkava 2 and 4 tanks, and the Tiger vehicle as a troop carrier accompanying the advancing tank columns.

Artillery was also used to hit point targets in Gaza, especially 155 mm field artillery and 105 mm howitzer artillery.

Light weaponsIsrael introduced modern rifles and advanced versions of M16 rifles, medium machine guns, and sniper rifles into the battle in a remarkable way.

Engineering CorpsThe Israeli Engineering Corps had an unprecedented role in this battle to combat and blow up tunnels, and to blow up buildings to help advance its tanks. And to open loopholes in the walls of non-improvised buildings to ensure a sudden convergence on the resistance targets for its soldiers through those loopholes in the walls.

navyThe occupation used naval forces, including ships and boats, to accompany the advancing columns of tanks by landing on the beaches, and for bombing as well.

ShellsIsrael obtained from the United States advanced versions of vacuum missiles to hit the foundations of towers and selected buildings, as well as missiles that cause destruction in residential areas, such as “autonomous missiles” and white phosphorus bombs.

It also used advanced versions of penetrating bombs for strong concrete fortifications underground, such as shelters, fortifications and tunnels, to test them in the Gaza Strip in preparation for the upcoming US Army battles in Ukraine and elsewhere.

Airlift and interception missilesThrough an air bridge, Israel was provided with everything it needed, including more than 220 flights from America, and an increase in the bridge stopped the export of weapons from its factories abroad.

The United States also provided Israel with a large stock of Iron Dome, Slingshot, and Hatz missiles, and introduced Patriot crews to protect high-value targets in Israel.

Bombs and phosphorusAl-Sharqawi pointed out that US President Joe Biden “bypassed the Pentagon in supplying Israel with artillery shells, tanks, and modern dime bombs that turned the children and residents of Gaza into pieces.”

He said that the elite forces of the Israeli army were entrusted with the mission of revenge, destruction, killing, and crushing the resistance and Gaza, with the aim of “erase what happened on October 7, 2023 from the consciousness of the Palestinians, Israelis, and the world, with scenes far removed from the scenes of previous traditional wars.”

Israel also bombed Gaza with flechette munitions and white phosphorus, and these weapons caused severe burns and respiratory problems for those targeted by them.

Artificial intelligenceIn addition to what Al-Sharqawi mentioned, the “Meedan” website on Tel Aviv Tribune Net highlighted in a previous report new weapons and the role of artificial intelligence in the battle of Gaza.

The report quoted the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper as saying that among the new weapons was “a new high-precision mortar shell, which was used for the first time in the current war on the Gaza Strip.”

He added that the Israeli army obtained 100 short-range American reconnaissance planes that rely on artificial intelligence to operate, in addition to the American self-driving planes already in use.

The report talked about two new shoulder-fired missiles, “Leo” and “MGM-1 Matador”, which are 50% larger than the missiles currently available to the occupation army, and have a wider range of destruction. .

He pointed out that the occupation army used new night vision technologies for the first time in the war through the use of the new night vision device “IDO”, which is a device that provides a three-dimensional image and is easy to use for long periods of time.

Regarding the results of the use of this arsenal of weapons, data from the government media office in Gaza indicate that the Israeli army bombed the Strip with more than 45,000 missiles and bombs, weighing more than 65,000 tons.

According to the office, during the first 97 days of the aggression, the Israeli aggression destroyed 69 thousand housing units completely, and 290 thousand units partially, in addition to 134 government headquarters, 295 universities and schools, and 142 mosques.

On Sunday, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the number of martyrs had risen to 23,843, in addition to about 7,000 missing persons and 60,317 injured.
