Military expert, retired Colonel Hatem Karim Al-Falahi, said that the new video published by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), confirms that the resistance operations are planned and not coincidental, and shows the ferocity of ground battles.
According to Al-Falahi’s statement to Al-Jazeera, the new Al-Qassam operations indicate that they were carried out in places where there are Israeli forces and vehicles, using multiple means, and were not concentrated in one area.
On Sunday, Al-Qassam broadcast a video clip called “Ambushes of Resilience and Defiance,” which included direct operations against the occupation forces in the Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip, including the use of anti-armor shells against a tank and a troop carrier, and hitting a house with an anti-fortification TPG shell.
The video also included a sniper attack on a soldier in the center of Jabalia, in addition to the detonation of an explosive ground device against a number of Israeli soldiers.
The military expert pointed out the variety of combat means used in operations, such as the “Al-Yassin 105” anti-armor shell, in addition to the use of a “TBG” shell to target an Israeli force holed up in a house.
This diversity – according to Al-Falahi – gives an indication of the capabilities and tactics used by the Qassams, as the weapon is selected to strike a target in the battle “based on the capabilities and capabilities possessed by the resistance, and then searching for an alternative if it is not available.”
The military expert believes that the successive operations carried out by the resistance in the northern Gaza Strip, despite the passage of more than 77 days since the start of the Israeli ground operation, confirm that the occupation has failed to impose control over the region, and shows the ferocity of the ground battles.
On October 6, the occupation army announced the start of a new military operation in Jabalia under the pretext of “preventing the Hamas movement from regaining its power in the region.”
According to Al-Falahi, the resistance’s implementation of specific operations, especially in the northern region of Jabalia, is due to the nature of the geographical area and the field experience gained by the resistance, in addition to the exhaustion that befell the occupation army, and this led to an increase in the bill for its human and material losses.
Regarding the messages sent by Al-Qassam fighters during the video, the military expert believes that the Israeli operations do not have military goals, but rather political ones, which explains the use of lethal weapons to kill civilians and destroy residential neighborhoods.
A Qassami fighter said in the video that the military brigades that the occupation army deployed in the northern Gaza Strip did not achieve any goals other than killing civilians and destroying residential buildings, stressing that the Israeli soldiers were not less than 200 meters away from them.
According to Al-Falahi, the resistance introduced new combat methods into the battle, such as knives and martyrdom operations, and he said that it was “a choice and a necessity at the same time.”
He concluded that the multiplicity of means and the diversity of tactics gives another dimension to resistance operations “so that the occupation army does not know the approach of the fighters,” stressing that the capabilities are available, but their use varies according to the nature of the region and the goals.
