Middle East: fighting and bombings for the October 7 anniversary

On the first anniversary of October 7, exchange of fire and fighting between the IDF, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in the Gaza Strip which promises “a long war of attrition”.

In the Middle East, renewed tension on the anniversary of the October 7 massacres.

Facing Hezbollah, the IDF says it carried out a targeted attack in southern Beirut near the airport, in an area considered to be the stronghold of Party of God fighters.

For its part, Hezbollah claims to bomb Israeli soldiers in Blida, a town in southern Lebanon near the border with Israel.

IDF accuses Hezbollah of firing on October 7 135 missiles towards Israel.

According to Israeli emergency services, the shots caused no casualties.

In the South, Hamas claims to have fired rockets from the Gaza Strip towards Israel and to have notably targeted a Kibbouz, a military base and Tel Aviv.

In a statement, the terrorist group promises “a long war of attrition” and said that hostages in Gaza are in a “very difficult” situation.

Of the 251 people kidnapped a year ago, 95 are still in the hands of Hamas and 34 of these hostages are considered dead.

The Israeli army, for its part, is carrying out ground operations in Jabalia, in the north of the Gaza Strip, where the IDF suspects Hamas of seeking to rebuild its capabilities.

According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his government is in the process of “ensure that there is never again October 7e.”
