The Media Part website said that French-Israeli Yael Lehrer collected 3,600 signatures to stop the war in Gaza “immediately,” and launched an appeal calling on the international community to adopt and implement retaliatory measures in all areas for this goal.
The initiator explained – in a report written by Gwennael Lenoir – that the appeal signed so far by thousands of Israelis, and published by the Guardian and Liberation newspapers, calls on the Israelis to “exert real international pressure on Israel for an immediate and permanent ceasefire,” and they say to the world, “We We implore you: save us from ourselves.
The writer pointed out that this unprecedented request for the participation of the international community, such as the United Nations and its institutions, the United States, the European Union, and the League of Arab States, as well as all countries of the world, demonstrates the extent of the urgency felt by the signatories, and indicates that sanctions are necessary, and are the only way to stop Israel’s mad rush. Towards violence.

There are no effective mediations and no decisions
The mediations did not work – as the site says – so Qatar froze its mediation, and the international resolutions were to no avail, so the resolution that the Security Council voted on in June 2024 remained dormant alongside the resolutions that were never implemented, and the decisions of the International Court of Justice in January did not act. May 2: The Israeli government and the countries that support it.
Yael Lehrer, who launched this appeal, said – in an interview with the website – that in July she went to Israel, “her country with which she had never severed ties,” and found that Israeli society is experiencing a very dangerous drift, and that the vast majority does not have a clear awareness of what “ We Israelis do it in Gaza. They don’t understand the genocide aspect of what we do.”
The editor and translator pointed out that the Israeli media only shows some effects sometimes, such as the army killing officials from the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), stressing that the drift of Israeli society is so strong that no change can come from within.
External action is needed – says Lehrer – for more than a year, “social media has been publishing every day the killing of dozens of people in the Gaza Strip and in Lebanon, and among Israeli soldiers as well. The urgent thing is to stop this now, but Israelis who oppose the war, like the signatories, On this call, they constitute a small minority and we are desperate. We need someone to save us from ourselves.
The author of the appeal confirmed that this is the first time that the call to impose sanctions has gone beyond the far left, as the memorandum was signed by honorary professors, a former ambassador, a former prosecutor, some relatives of detainees and relatives of the people who were killed on October 7.
The number of signatories – according to Lehrer – is still increasing, knowing that a third of them reside abroad, especially in Europe, while the remaining two-thirds live in Israel itself, but the Palestinians in Israel find it difficult to sign despite the support we receive from them, because many of them have been arrested. They were imprisoned for simple posts on social media.
The author of the appeal reminded that Israel is not like Russia, and cannot wage a war alone. It needs other countries such as the United States and the European Union. Washington supplies it with weapons because it does not produce fighter planes or missiles, and Europe makes it the largest trading partner so that it benefits from the same advantages as any other country. Almost a European country, therefore “we need an arms embargo.”
