The Israeli occupation army admitted that its soldiers tied a wounded Palestinian to the front hood of a military vehicle during an operation in the city of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank, which sparked widespread anger.

Video clips documenting the incident – which occurred on Saturday and caused widespread anger on social media – show a young man from Jenin lying and tied on the hood of a military vehicle that was passing through one of the city’s streets.

The soldiers were accused of using the injured man as a human shield during the operation.

A medical source at Ibn Sina Specialized Hospital in the city confirmed that the young man’s name is Mujahid Raed Abadi (24 years old) and he was in the Jabriyat neighborhood in the Wadi Burqin area when the accident occurred. According to the medical source, the young man’s condition is stable.

The occupation army claimed that the young man was injured during an “anti-terrorism operation” carried out by soldiers to arrest wanted suspects.

According to the army statement, one of the suspects was injured during an exchange of fire between Israeli forces and gunmen, before he was arrested.

The statement continued, “In violation of established operational orders and procedures, forces took a suspect while he was tied up on top of a vehicle.”

He added, “The behavior of the forces in the video clip of the incident does not comply with the values of the Israeli army,” noting that “the incident will be investigated and dealt with accordingly.”

Since the Palestinian resistance launched the Al-Aqsa Flood Battle and the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, the occupation has intensified its military operations in the West Bank and increased the pace of incursions and raids into Palestinian cities, towns and camps.
