Manchester United, last in its group, is eliminated from all European competition after its defeat (0-1) on Tuesday December 12 against Bayern Munich at the end of the Champions League group stage.
The Red Devils conceded a fourth defeat in six Champions League matches at Old Trafford. This condemns them to fourth place in group A (4 points), behind the Germans of Bayern (1st, 16 pts) and the Danes of Copenhagen (8 pts), qualified in the round of 16 after their success (1-0) against the Turks of Galatasaray (3rd, 5 pts).

Real Sociedad, first in group D
Already qualified for the round of 16, Real Sociedad ensured they finished first in Group D on Tuesday by beating Inter Milan (0-0) at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium.
The two teams finished with 12 points each, while a draw was enough for the Basques to finish at the top of their C1 group for the first time in their history, ahead of the reigning European vice-champions on goal difference.
