Malaysians demand their government not to accept an American ambassador attacking Islam and the Palestinians news

Dozens of demonstrators gathered in front of the American embassy in Kuala Lumpur today, Friday, to protest against the proposal to appoint the writer and political expert Nick Adams, ambassador of the United States to Malaysia.

Last week, US President Donald Trump announced the nomination of Ambassador to Malaysia.

The demonstrators carried banners that were written on one of them, “There is no place for the racists and the hostility of Islam in Malaysia.”

They demanded the American President to “search for a more professional, moderate and adherence candidate and adhere to the importance of regional stability in Southeast Asia.”

The demonstration came at the initiative of the youth movements in the ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in the midst of commercial negotiations between Washington and Kuala Lumpur.

Adams, an Australian American American, succeeded in building a bold figure on social media, using the “dominant male” image of influencing cultural issues and attracting the mostly young audience.

However, his publications that criticize Islam and support the Israeli military campaign in Gaza have angered Muslims.

Earlier, he wrote in a publication on “X”: “If you support Palestine, you are supporting Islamic militants and hated by the Jews.”

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim told reporters today that it is too early to make a decision on the appointment of Adams.

“At the same time, we will work to maintain good relations that link Malaysia and the United States,” he added.

Anwar said in statements to the newspaper “The Star” that before agreeing to appoint Adams, “the government will take into account the public opinion of dignity and good relations between Malaysia and the United States.”
