The Presidency confirmed that the plane had still not been located.
The military plane had left the capital, Lilongwethis Monday, but was unable to land as planned at an airport located approximately 370 km to the north due to difficult weather conditions.
A control tower then asked the pilot to turn around, before he disappeared from the radar screens.
Besides the vice president, 9 other people were on board.
