Military and strategic expert Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi believes that the main battle in the Israeli war on Gaza is taking place in the center of the Gaza Strip. He said that these battles are the decisive and main ones, stressing that the battles in the south – especially in Khan Yunis – are no less important.
He said that the new Israeli approach combined several combat doctrines: the suburb doctrine; That is, systematic destruction and applied it to the entirety of Gaza, and the American doctrine in Iraqi Mosul in the fight against the Islamic State, where American forces surrounded Mosul from 4 sides.
He added that when the Israeli occupation army failed to attack the Bureij camp in the middle of the Gaza Strip and in more than one area, it sent additional forces and entered the distances in order to cut off the communication links between the camps in the middle of Gaza, but until this moment the management of the defensive battle is still effective for the Palestinian resistance.
As for the eastern areas of Gaza City: Such as: Al-Tuffah neighborhood, Al-Daraj, and the outskirts of Al-Shuja’iya, where there are still Israeli forces and fierce fighting taking place, and the Palestinian resistance uses ambushes, explosive devices, and short weapons, emerging from the tunnels and striking deep.
Al-Duwairi believes – in his daily analysis on Al-Jazeera – that the Israelis’ management of the battle in the north appears confused from a military point of view, noting that the divisions and disagreements between the military and political leadership have cast a shadow over the military leaders.
Commenting on what Tel Aviv Tribune correspondent in Ramallah, Walid, reported that the Israeli army – specifically in the north – has reduced the direct use of soldiers, and is now using “robots”, the military expert explained that the use of the “Jaguar” robot replaces the presence of the soldier. In the northern region, he said that “Jaguar” is a fighting robot that carries a machine gun and has an integrated sensor system. It overcomes obstacles and redirects itself based on data it is fed before it moves.
In the southern region, the Israelis use a robot that emits sounds similar to the sounds of tanks and gunfire, in order for resistance fighters to emerge from the tunnels.
In his reading of the course of the battles in the southern region – especially Khan Yunis – Al-Duwairi confirmed that there are 8 Israeli brigades there, and there is a crowding of forces, and on the other hand, there is a tunnel network whose density seems to exceed the density of the tunnel network in Gaza City.
He added that the nature of the area in Khan Yunis allows for the construction of a network of tunnels with multiple openings, and thus the exit of fighters becomes easy.
