Major clubs in the world decided to use and rely on artificial intelligence techniques to determine the physical problems that players and ways of preventing them suffer.
The Spanish newspaper “Marca” reported that the most prominent of these clubs are Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern Munich, in addition to other clubs that participated in the Club World Cup in its first expanded version that was held in the United States, including the Brazilian duo Flamingo and Palmeiras.
These clubs and others have made great investments to enhance their health care capabilities for players, which included investing in artificial intelligence, a technique used to predict and prevent future injuries.
The function of artificial intelligence techniques is to integrate multiple data, such as training loads, players’ injuries, sleep quality, nutrition, and performance on the field, as well as the emotional state of the player.
According to the newspaper, this information is collected through cameras, sensors and equipment that monitor the smallest details with high accuracy, to ultimately provide more comprehensive and deeper analytical results than those provided by humans.
“We use several tools that depend on artificial intelligence to monitor the performance and health of the players, including medical assessments, physiotherapy and physiological and nutritional evaluations,” said Rodrigo Zugayeb – a medical official at the Brazilian Santos Club.
“In physiological assessments, we use thermal photography through the” Hard Square “program, in addition to daily self -assessments, such as the quality of sleep and pain, which produces an algorithm that measures stress,” Zugayeb said.
He continued, “We monitor sleep, weight, level of hydration, and website tracking devices (GPS) and carry the training, then this data is processed through a program that issues alerts, which allows us to adjust the training pregnancy for each player separately.”
The technical staff receives a comprehensive report that includes all the details necessary to work immediately to prevent injuries that may harm the team and the player in the long run.
“Marca” indicates that these investments are expected to pay great results immediately, to help reduce the rate of injuries by up to 30%.

For his part, Sven Muller Marketing Officer at the Kogo platform, which specializes in discovering young talents, believes that investing in technology would conduct analyzes and show their results within a few seconds.
“Investing in technology enables us to conduct multiple individual analyzes within seconds, and we also have better understanding the needs of each player to help him reach his maximum physical, technical and mental capabilities,” Muller said.

He added, “Artificial intelligence came to make a shift in the football industry, whether by discovering new talents, predicting the development of players and their behavior on the field, the possibilities of their injury, or even evaluating their market value.”
In turn, Toulio Horta, head of the operations department at the “PSS” platform – a specialized platform for health and performance services for professional football players – said that the use of technology along with scientific knowledge and personal care is essential to achieving maximum performance levels.
