French President Emmanuel Macron urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end violent attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank.
During a phone call with Netanyahu, Macron reiterated the need to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip and spoke with Netanyahu about the importance of reaching a permanent ceasefire agreement.
According to the Elysee Palace statement, Macron called on Netanyahu to “take the necessary measures” to end settler attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank.
Acts of violence committed by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank have increased since the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7.
According to human rights organizations, at least 263 Palestinians have been killed by settlers’ bullets and the occupation army in the occupied West Bank since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
In a related context, the French President urged the Israeli Prime Minister to open the Kerem Shalom crossing between Israel and the Gaza Strip to deliver much-needed aid to the Strip.
It is noteworthy that 60% of the goods to the Gaza Strip were passing through the Kerem Shalom crossing before the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
Last Saturday, Macron called for “redoubling efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire” after the end of a week-long truce.
He also called on Israel to clarify its goal of “destroying” the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), warning that achieving this could take “10 years.”
