The Hebrew newspaper Maariv published a report about the visit of Karim Khan, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, to Israel and his meeting with the families of prisoners held by the resistance in the Gaza Strip at the beginning of last December.

She indicated that he cried during his meeting with the families of the prisoners held by the resistance, and he addressed them, saying, “What happened was terrible. It is a deep wound, a wound that is still bleeding.”

The report stated that Karim Khan is not anti-Semitic as Israeli politicians accused him, explaining that Khan “leans in our favor.” Pointing out that he did not accuse Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant of murder, rape, abuse and terrorism. He also accused Hamas leaders, but he blamed our side for the famine.”

Karim Khan announced on May 20 that he had submitted requests to the court to issue arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant, for their complicity in causing suffering and starvation of civilians in Gaza.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza, Yahya al-Sinwar, and Muhammad al-Deif, the commander-in-chief of the Martyr Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the movement’s military wing, and the head of the movement’s political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, were accused of being responsible for committing war crimes and against humanity in Israel, as he put it.

Crying and getting emotional

The report stated that Karim Khan held “a long and moving meeting with representatives of the abductees’ families.” It was reported from sources who attended the meeting that “he cried when he heard some of the testimonies.”

Khan pointed out that what these people mean stems from their being Israelis, praising his invitation to the meeting and that the stories he heard “touched his heart,” and that he was speaking “wiping away his tears.”

During the meeting, Karim Khan spoke about the Holocaust and the necessity of not repeating it, and said, “We are all liars, because we promised after the Holocaust that it would not happen again… How can we look at ourselves in the mirror when we remember the piles of corpses next to the ovens that burned the bodies of children?”

According to the report, Karim Khan stressed that “there is anti-Semitism all over the world, and the world must get better at working against it, against hatred of Jews and any kind of hatred, without hatred there would be no Holocaust.”

Khan stressed that his focus “is on October 7, on the killing, the kidnappers, and the destruction.”

When speaking about the Gaza Strip, Karim Khan stated, “He prays that the children of those who succumbed to hatred and repeated their actions in Gaza will understand the flawed logic and change their ways.” He also touched on the necessity of bringing relief aid to the sector.

He concluded his speech to the families of the prisoners by saying, “There was a persecution operation, and the persecutors were the Jewish people… so we are investigating.”
