The Lotan newspaper said that Israel did not succeed in destroying the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and by the same logic it will not succeed in eliminating Hezbollah, and it asked what is the benefit of opening this other front?

The Swiss newspaper pointed out – in an editorial by Louis Lima – that there is a consensus that Israel is determined to expand the scope of the war by continuing to use the same methods, the same massive destruction and the same disregard for civilians, as well as the same choice of the type of ambiguous military targets that make the possibility of open war always possible.

And the talk of destroying Hamas here and beheading Hezbollah there, says Lima, is evidence that Israel is determined, as always in its logic, to crush its most radical enemies, something it has never succeeded in doing. The Palestinian Sunni Hamas and the Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah were born out of the battles waged against Israel by those less fanatical than them, and they have gained “power” in Gaza and Beirut thanks to this same logic.

The newspaper reported that the few days that the “new phase” of the Israeli war has continued so far have caused the deaths of hundreds of people and the displacement of thousands, but it has actually confirmed the opposite of what is intended by separating Hezbollah from the rest of the Lebanese population, and therefore Hezbollah will not find it difficult to refill its ranks that the Israelis have depleted, according to the writer.

As if Israel, says Lima, is trying to make us forget the ongoing war in the Palestinian sector, which is still very bloody, tragic and without result.

The writer accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his army of opening this front towards “another Gaza,” replacing the promise of releasing Israeli detainees held by Hamas and the return of the residents of northern Israel to their homes with a reckless, crazy rush, making the goal of the other war as unattainable as the first, according to the writer.
