The NSC, a new political party led by Pieter Omtzigt, is leading the polls for the Dutch elections on November 22. The former Christian Democrat MP is best known for bringing down Mark Rutte’s government in 2021 after revealing a scandal in which 20,000 families were wrongly accused of child benefit fraud, often on the basis of their ethnicity. This centrist, anti-establishment candidate is shaking up the Dutch political landscape and attracting voters looking for change.
