While the Israeli army announced new strikes on Hezbollah sites in Lebanon on Saturday, the pro-Iranian Islamist movement confirmed the death of its leaders in the Israeli strike the day before near Beirut.
After two waves of explosions of telecommunications equipment that sowed terror in Lebanon, Israel is continuing its military operations targeting Hezbollah.
On Saturday morning, the IDF announced that it had carried out new strikes against sites held by the pro-Iranian Islamist movement.
These raids follow those that occurred on Friday during which two leaders of this militia were killed. Ahmed Mahmoud Wahbi and Ibrahim Akil died in the southern suburbs of Beirut, according to Hezbollah.
These targeted raids left a total of 37 dead.according to a new report, dealing a new blow to the Lebanese Islamist movement after the cascade of explosions that occurred this week.
The United Nations immediately called for peace as tensions escalate between Beirut and Tel Aviv.
“We urge all parties to immediately de-escalate. All must exercise maximum restraint. We also urge the parties to immediately return to the cessation of hostilities and fully implement Security Council resolution 1701. The region is on the brink of catastrophe.”said Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General.
For his part, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian said that if Middle Eastern countries united, they could prevent Israel from “commit crimes” in the region. The president’s remarks came during an annual military parade in Tehran, where The army presented one of its new missiles.
This escalation in Lebanon comes in parallel with the ongoing Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip. The Gaza Civil Defense announced on Saturday 19 people killed in bombing of Gaza City schoolin the north, where thousands of displaced people had sought refuge. The Hamas health ministry also indicated on Saturday that at least 41,391 Palestinians had been killed in the Israeli offensive launched in retaliation for the massacres of Israelis committed last October by Hamas fighters.
