International newspapers focused on the repercussions of the outbreak of the northern front between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah, after explosions targeted wireless communication devices used by the party’s fighters, in addition to the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

In this context, Lebanon’s ambassador to Britain, Rami Mortada, said that the Israeli ground invasion of Lebanon would lead to a “doomsday” scenario of a comprehensive regional conflict on multiple fronts, and the radicalization of a new generation in Europe.

Mortada added – in an interview with the British newspaper “The Times” – that Hezbollah has become a formidable fighting force, and Israel must learn from history and its humiliating defeats in the past, stressing that the Lebanese army will not stand neutral.

In turn, Seth Frantzman, author of the book “The October 7 War,” believes that war is imminent between Israel and Hezbollah, and that the party is aware of Israel’s capabilities and knows that it is now concentrating its forces in the north.

In an article in the American magazine “The National Interest”, Frantzman indicated that the party is confident that it has sufficient capabilities to pose a serious threat to Israel, before concluding his speech by saying that “neither party can predict the results of such a war and its mechanisms.”

For its part, the British newspaper, the Financial Times, quoted Yaakov Amidror, the former national security adviser to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as saying that “several conditions must be met before Israel launches a war against Hezbollah, and therefore there is no point in waging war if Israel is not prepared for it, and if the conditions are not ripe for waging it.”

According to Amidror, the conditions include equipping the Israeli army, preparing the home front to absorb thousands of missiles that will be launched from Lebanon, and securing international legitimacy, especially from the United States.

Politically, the Chinese newspaper “China Daily” said in its editorial that “Israel must comply with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council, to end the conflict and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.”

The newspaper added, “Washington must stop being a partner and accomplice with Tel Aviv in its violation of the law and its inhumane practices.”

In the same context, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz saw in its editorial that Israel has a last chance to sign a ceasefire agreement in Gaza before everything ignites.

The newspaper called on “Tel Aviv to fulfill its moral duty and make the deal offered by the Americans a success, to return the hostages (prisoners) to their homes, and it must prevent a destructive war that will lead to the killing of many Israelis.”

The Washington Post indicated that the United States’ ability to control the Middle East is declining more than ever.

The newspaper quotes Aaron David Miller, an expert on Middle East affairs who has advised Republican and Democratic administrations, as saying that Washington must maintain its power, so as not to lose its influence and impact on the Israelis, Palestinians and Arab countries.
