Leaks of the occupation’s plans in northern Gaza and Netanyahu admits failure by exploiting the clans | News

Israeli and American media outlets published more details about an Israeli plan to besiege the northern Gaza Strip and displace its residents, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was quoted as saying during a closed session of the Knesset today, Sunday, that he is studying this “logical” plan.

CNN quoted a former Israeli military official as saying that Netanyahu is studying a plan to “force all Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip to leave.”

He added that the plan aims to turn the northern Gaza Strip into a closed military zone and besiege Hamas fighters “and force them to surrender or starve.”

On the other hand, Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said that the Israeli army is expected to present several alternatives to the plan to distribute humanitarian aid in Gaza in the coming days.

She added that the plans will be presented to Netanyahu and will include “options aimed at withdrawing civil authority from Hamas.”

The newspaper quoted sources as saying that one of the options being considered is for the Israeli army to distribute aid.

Siege and displacement

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that “after a week’s deadline to evacuate the residents, a complete military siege will be imposed on the area, which will leave the militants in Gaza City with the choice of surrender or death.”

Earlier today, Israeli media quoted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as saying during a meeting of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that reserve general Giora Eiland’s plan to declare the northern Gaza Strip a military zone was “logical” and “one of the plans being discussed, but there are other plans as well.”

This plan has become known in Israel as the “Generals’ Plan.” It was proposed by General Eiland, the former head of the Israeli National Security Council, in early September and supported by dozens of current and former senior army officers.

Israeli estimates indicate that about 5,000 Hamas fighters still remain in the northern Gaza Strip.

“Israel Today” newspaper quoted Netanyahu as saying during the same session that “there was an attempt to enable the clans in Gaza to distribute humanitarian aid, but it did not succeed.”

Last March, the Palestinian Tribes, Clans and Families Gathering in the Gaza Strip said in a statement that the tribes “are not an alternative to any Palestinian political system, but rather a component of the national components and a supporter of the resistance and the protection of the home front.”
