Le Monde: Wael Al-Dahdouh has become the voice of the oppressed in Gaza Press Tour News

The French newspaper Le Monde said that the director of Tel Aviv Tribune’s office in Gaza, Wael Al-Dahdouh, has become the voice of the oppressed in the Strip, with his insistence on performing his media duty, despite the martyrdom of his wife and members of his family and the harsh conditions in which he works due to the ongoing Israeli bombing.

The newspaper added, in its report, that Al-Dahdouh was embracing the tragedies that the people of Gaza were experiencing in his body, which was scarred with wounds. He was informed of the killing of his wife and members of his family while he was live on air, so he left, but returned to carry out his media duty on Al-Jazeera immediately afterward, without getting tired or bored.

It was added that he miraculously escaped death after he and his team were targeted by the Israeli occupation forces a few days ago. He sustained injuries that did not prevent him from escaping several meters to escape certain death, while his companion, photographer Samer Abu Daqqa, was killed, and he continued to bleed for several hours without anyone being able to help him.

Le Monde quoted a friend of Wael Al-Dahdouh, an Agence France-Presse photographer, Mahmoud Al-Hams, as saying that Al-Dahdouh is a journalist who enjoys the trust of the residents of the Gaza Strip. He added, “We journalists share the same fate as the civilian population, and we live with great concern for our families, but despite that, we are keen to report what is happening,” and he continued. Working without interruption is also an outlet for the bereaved and wounded person.”

On October 25, 2023, occupation aircraft targeted a house in which the Al-Dahdouh family was located in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip. His wife, son, and daughter were martyred in the raid.

Despite the wounds and pain – Le Monde continues – Al-Dahdouh seems to derive from his faith the energy necessary to continue. He believes that he is not performing a job, but rather performing a message, knowing that the Israeli government, which does not like Tel Aviv Tribune’s coverage, regularly promises to silence it and close its offices in Jerusalem and Ramallah.
